A High Protein Diet recommends 30 to 40 percent of calories from protein, food that are high in carbohydrates, especially sugar, pasta, bread cereals and potatoes are limited. High Protein Diet shall be followed with care, Remembering that a body needs a balanced diet and since the high protein diet discourages carbohydrates, not all carbohydrates are bad.

Benefits:

Steady blood sugar level can be very significant in high protein diet, they increase the amount of a muscle-maintaining, blood-sugar regulating amino acid in the diet. High protein diet takes away the type of carbohydrates, which trigger hunger pangs.

Drawbacks:

Increased consumption of saturated fat and cholesterol in high protein diet can lead to increased risk of heart disease. With the Lack of sufficient carbohydrates, the body starts burning fatty acids, which overloads the kidney, damaging the kidney in the whole process, this can be one of the greatest drawback of high protein diet.
