Asian diet

Description / History:

The asian diet has had a lot of buzz lately because researches have found out that asians live longer and are less likely to suffer from chronic diseases like cancer, heart diseases and diabetes than north-americans. High in vitamins, fibers, minerals and anti-oxidants, this diet is based on the eating habits and traditions of asian countries. It is not for pregnant or nursing women, children or people who have special nutritional needs or medical conditions.

Benefits:

It is low in saturated and general fats and is very high in vitamins, anti-oxydants and minerals. It is said that this diet can improve longevity.

Drawbacks:

An asian diet is generally high in sodium because of the traditional use of soy sauce. You should be carefull to watch your sodium intake during this diet and you should monitor your health to be sure you are not missing any nutrients. A good way of substituting salt in recipes is through non-sodium spices like ginger, pepper, lemongrass, chives, onions, etc.

Exercising daily is also important.
